What could possibly be the mysterious link that blends together like honey and tea Stutz, the Netflix documentary about Psychiatrist Philip Stutz’s therapy tools and TheAgileCook? Three inexplicable coincidences, aka synchronicities:
- Both are about the importance of tools. For Philip Stutz „A tool is something that can change your state immediately, in real time. It takes an experience that’s normally unpleasant then it turns it into an opportunity. Tools change your mood and then just give you a sense of hope that won’t be your mood forever.” Agile Cooking gives you another set of tools: the values and principles that help you choose quick what’s best for you!

- Diet, Sleep & Exercise are super important for your mental health. A good diet is included in one of his tools, called Life Force. Healthy food is at the bottom of the pyramid, it’s part of your relationship with your physical body. To elevate your mood „all you gotta do is get your body working better, and it always works.” Only by getting this right it can make you feel 85% better at first! One of TheAgileCook’s principles is Keep it healthy & simple with Nutritionist’s Plate as Food is medicine, it allows you to be strong & fit.

- The 3rd coincidence is the color: wow! we all chose a similar shade of Mint. You can put Mint in your tea, salad and omelette and we have a perfect match!;)
7 thoughts & quotes on the Netflix documentary, which for me was a super big like:
- Jonah Hill created the documentary as he wanted to put Phil Stutz ideas „in a way that allows people to access and use them to make their own life better„
- Stutz is a patient’s way of expressing gratitude toward his therapist that „helped him live a better life”. The patient happens to be the Academy Award nominated actor, producer and writer, Jonah Hill.
- Stutz documentary could prove quite hard to digest for the idealistic type, primed to see life in shades of pink, but might be useful for their wellbeing. For some therapists this Netflix documentary is the missing piece of puzzle to elevate their skills, for others it will go well with lots of Rhum in their tea, as it comes with a contrarian view:
- Phil Stutz: The average shrink will say, „Don’t intrude on the patient’s process. They will come up with the answers when they’re ready.” That sucks. That’s not acceptable.
- Jonah Hill: When I walked into your office, we sat down, and you were just like: „Here’s what you should do!„You gave me some form of action. You gave me a tool.
- Phil Stutz: I wanted you to feel some change, some forward motion. It gives you hope. It’s like: „Oh, shit, that’s actually possible!”
- I find Stutz, the Netflix documentary an useful introduction to therapy for skeptics. Why? Because it’s bold and realistic, the message is that everyone is still in the struggle and in the fight of being a human and that beauty stays in the process and in our vulnerability.
- Psychiatrist Phill Stutz is struggling with Parkinson: his arms are shaking and sometimes he has to stop to do pushups to release the stiffness that covers his body. This vulnerable man revealing in front of us has improved the life of US top writers, actors, producers and top management executives with some simple therapy tools that he’s teaching us also in this documentary. I told you one, you watch Stutz on Netflix and enjoy discovering the rest!
- The conclusion is that happiness „depends on how you accept it and what you do about the fact that you can’t eliminate pain, uncertainty and constant work.”
- If you wanna dig more on the subject, check the books Phil Stutz coauthored with Barry Michels: Coming Alive: 4 Tools to Defeat Your Inner Enemy, Ignite Creative Expression, and Unleash Your Soul’s Potential or The Tools: 5 Tools to Help You Find Courage, Creativity, and Willpower—and Inspire You to Live Life in Forward Motion
You made it through here, congrats! Close your eyes and think of some of the things you’re grateful for! The smaller the things, the better. I’m grateful to have many little things to be grateful for! Today I will only reveal that
I’m very grateful for stumbling upon the three coaches and therapists whose groups, sessions or many friendly talks helped me find my mission and pursue my goals and happiness. Thank you Adrian Nuță, ALESSANDRA MUSTĂREAȚĂ, Ligia Cremene!
